Others
are

like
what
to

breakfast
or
whether
to

blue
shirt
or
a
green
one.
But
there
is
one
decision
that
is
becoming
increasingly
important
in
the
digital
age:
what
to
call
ourselves
online. My
web
name
is

It's
not
very
creative
or
catchy,
but
it's
safe.
I
didn't
want
to
use
my
real
name,
and
I
didn't
want
to
use
anything
too
outlandish
or
provocative.
I
just
wanted
something
that
would
blend
in
and
not
draw
too
much
attention
to
myself. But
now
I
wonder
if
I
made
the
right
choice.
Our
online
identities
are
becoming
more
and
more
intertwined
with
our
real-world
identities.
People
can
find
out
a
lot
about
us
just
by
Googling
our
web
names.
And
yet,
we
often
don't
give
much
thought
to
what
we
call
ourselves
online. I
often
see
people
with
web
names
that
are
highly
provocative
or
offensive.
They
may
think
it's
just
harmless
fun,
but
it
can
have
real-world
consequences.
In
the
age
of
social
media,
everything
we
say
and
do
online
can
come
back
to
haunt
us. On
the
other
hand,
there
are
those
who
use
their
real
names
online.
This
can
be
risky,
as
it
opens
them
up
to
potential
harassment
or
stalking.
But
it
can
also
be
empowering,
as
it
allows
them
to
take
ownership
of
their
online
identity
and
stand
behind
what
they
say. As
for
me,
I'm
still
not
sure
what
the
best
approach
is.
I
value
my
privacy
and
anonymity,
but
I
also
don't
want
to
hide
behind
a
mask.
Perhaps
the
best
solution
is
to
find
a
middle
ground,
using
a
web
name
that
is
unique
and
memorable,
but
not
offensive
or
dangerous. What's
